I did think something didn’t look like it usually does.

Finally Friday but I have to admit that the week has passed very fast despite the cold that just doesn’t want to leave me. I sleep all night without coughing though and that’s at least something to be happy about.

They said on the radio that we’re having nothing weather today, no wind, no sunshine, no rain and no degrees (0C) so I guess they’re right 🙂 It was quite nice when we were walking after work though, the lack of wind usually does that when the rest of the weather is so so.

I walked along the creek and looked to my right and stopped after a few steps, something looked like it usually doesn't but I couldn't figure out what it was. So I took a photo towards what ever it was and found these two. Tele-photo lenses do help a lot :-)

So instead of takjing the gravel road homewards we walked in to the forest instead.
So instead of taking the gravel road homewards we walked in to the forest instead. I do like to see a moose or two but don’t want to get too close, after all they do kill humans every now and again.

I drove to the supermarket on my way home today and instead of reindeer I bought red deer meat instead, it was slightly cheaper and doesn’t taste that much different. I don’t think that Albin really would care if it taste any different but I would like some for myself too 🙂 Still, that dog will eat more fancy food for the rest of his life than I will 🙂 I also found some minced lamb, unfortunately it was Halal slaughtered, a nasty way to slaughter an animal. I want to see if Albin can eat it though so I bought it anyway. Next time I’ll see if I can any not Halal slaughtered.

We came to the creek again but upstream. Sune thought it would be a great idea to jump over to the other side, it wasn't :-) He however loves to take a bath no matter how cold it might be, so he jumped back again and most of him landed in the water again :-)

All the animals have gotten their food and now it’s time for me to get something too. I’m tired so it will be something easy to make and after that I’ll most likely fall asleep in front of the tv 🙂

  1. Hi Christer,
Yes, I think Albin is going to be eating like a prince for a long time. 🙂

How is Halal slaughter done in Sweden? Since most animals here are stunned before slaughter, it is allowable for purposes of Halal. The method of stunning must render the animal unconscious but not kill it outright. So no bolts to the brain like the rest of our meat gets. Probably none of the many ways of killing food animals in large numbers is particularly humane.

That fifth photo is fascinating. I guess it’s air bubbles under the ice. At first I thought it was raindrops.

Nice moose. Peaceful moose. Stay in your thicket and I’ll back away slowly. 🙂

We have some weather. Some wind. Some sun. Some more clouds. Some degrees but not enough to make it warmer than no degrees. Meh.

    Enjoy the day.

    1. Hi Caryn!

It’s the same here, the animal must be stunned so it can’t feel anything. This package came from New Zealand though and I have no idea how it is done there. As You say, no way is humane but true halal (and kosher too I think) is just horrible.

I think it is frozen water drops we see in that photo. The water level had sunken so much that they froze again during night. I could see these in several places and it looked as if water dripped from several ones of them. No matter what, it does look cool 🙂

I think those moose were still at the same place when we walked homewards because the dogs all lokked towards that direction and sniffed in the air. I am very happy that they decided not to come and greet us 🙂

The weather forecasts says more wind and snow today, I’m not happy about that.

      Have a great day!

      Christer.

  2. hi christer! isn’t there too much fat in ground lamb for albin. that would give teddy the runs. you sure have had a mild winter, the same as us. a big storm is heading here next week and everyone is in for tons of snow but we are going to only get rain. blah!

    1. Hi Joyce!

I’m not sure how he will react to all that fat, 15%. I will however start with just a little to see if he gets any eczema, so it will be mixed with chicken, rice and carrots. He deperately need more fat though so I’ll take it slow and hope for the best 🙂

It has been unusually mild, this coming week will give us slightly colder weather and today we’ll get snow, I so wish I could send that snow to You 🙂

Have a great day despite the warm weather!

      Christer.

    1. HI Pammy Sue!

      Thank You 🙂

We’ve had two unusually mild winters here now, normally it’s quite cold with lots of snow here by now. It will however get colder and we’ll get some snow again today. Personally I hope it doesn’t last for too long, I do like these warmer winters 🙂

      Have a great day!

  3. Yes, I would agree that Albin does dine well, Christer. The only time that Grenville enjoys some lamb is if we are dining out and it’s on the menu. His favorite is lamb chops, but I avoid them completely because the image of the lambs being killed would sadden me. yet, I know that other animals are slaughtered as well. Maybe it’s why I prefer more veggies and fish than red meat. We will be getting winter weather this coming week – some snow and rain and general messy conditions.

    1. Hi Beatrice!

H will eat what most people consider luxury food for the rest of his life 🙂 Today he tested red deer and he really liked it, now we’ll just have to wait and see if he gets any eczema from it.

I have no problems eating lamb but rarely eat beef since I donä’t know if it is any of those growing up here I would eat 🙂 I know it’s hypocritical of me 🙂 We have lots of lambs here too but they aren’t as friendly as the cattle usually are.

Winter weather here too but still warmer thanusual and that I like 🙂

      Have a great day!

  4. Christer,
Gracie eats canned dog food, but it is expensive. The first ingredient is the meat then the vegetables. She likes everything except peas. Her treats are even healthy, no fillers. She eats more nutritious and healthier food than I do.

Gracie isn’t a dog who likes water. None of my dogs have willingly gone into water deeper than above her paws though one of them would get to the edge of the ocean and pee in the waves. I don’t know of any places around here which sells exotic meat like reindeer. There is one on-line from which I have bought strange meats

Gracie is back to herself today except for being afraid of the stairs. I understand as she hurt herself when she fell. I’ll take her into the yard by the stairs again tomorrow.

    Have a great day!

    1. Hi Kat!

I don’t think there’s anything Albin wouldn’t eat I’m afraid 🙂 Too bad he can’t. Nove can be picky but if I just put something tiny but different in her food she willgulp it down 🙂 Sune is a garbage bin 🙂

Sune loves to swim but I’m not sure how Albin would react to that. He doesn’t like rauiny weather though. I’ll take him to the sea this summer and se how he’ll react to it 🙂 Reindeer, red deer, moose and sometimes wild hog can be found almost always in at least the super markets. It isn’t cheap and it isn’t the best meat from the animal but good enough.

Glad to hear Gracie is back to normal, now I hope the fear of teh stairs will go away too!

      Have a great day!

      Christer.
