I’m afraid I have to mow the lawn.

It looked like we were going to get a sunny and cloud free morning and we did, for about ten minutes 🙂 I really don’t like when the weather decides to do the opposite to what I want. Suddenly the sky was filled with clouds and I felt so irritated and said to myself that if we at least had some fog instead. Turned out that it was fog clouds that flew in over the village 🙂

It didn’t seem to be any good fog though so I said a few insulting words to the fog and it didn’t take long until it sometimes was so think that the camera couldn’t focus on anything 🙂 So instead of turning homewards I decided that we should walk in to the village instead, why go home when we’re having such a nice morning?  There were no flies around to disturb me either so I really couldn’t complain about this morning.

Suddenly I could see the fog floating in over the mountain and since the wind came from that direction I was pretty sure it would come to us too.

It was still very foggy when we came home so I decided that We should continue out into the forest and out toi the bog but with two older cameras instead. We hadn’t come far when the fog suddenly blew away and the sun showed again and this time it didn’t help to insult the fog at all and I really did my best to do it 🙂

We’ll have sun all day they say so I think I’ll have to mow at least some of the lawn today, the grass is still a bit too wet though so I’m in no hurry to start. I’ve actually done the laundry today, I’ve just my working t-shirts left to wash. Tomorrow morning will feel a bit odd when I don’t have the laundry to do as I usually have every Sunday morning. I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to do something else though 🙂

The birds are chirping and I have the kitchen door open. So far just two wasps have tried to get inside the cottage but a nice backhand with my electric tennis racket has made them change their minds 🙂 I don’t long for winter but it is nice to finally not have to worry about us getting stung by those nasty insects.

  1. I wanted to comment on your photo’s but there is something else I wanted to tell you.
Mele died on the evening of Sept 7th at 9pm. My heart is broken. I would never have allowed that chip had I known there was any danger to her at all. She was a healthy happy little dog just a couple of weeks ago and now she is gone.
The Vet did the surgery and I knew it was wrong. She was already week from the infection or whatever was wrong and getting weaker by the hour. He cleaned her teeth (which I have done once a year) and did surgery to remove the lump on her back. I think she was under the anesthetic for too long and when I picked her up she was not right at all..the following day I called them and they said to bring her back at ten in the morning. Too late. She died in my arms that night.
The sunshine has gone out of our home…
No baby kittens yet…it good because right now I cannot worry about it. Howards sees the kitties and mom are well taken care of.
I need time. Our pets are our family members… It’s hard to believe this could happen so quickly or at all.

I’m so sorry to read this!
So horrible! At least she was at home with You feeling safe. I know how hard it is to loose a familymember as our pets are.

      Take care my friend!

  2. Hi Christer,
Isn’t technology wonderful? You can practice your tennis backhand and rid your house of flying pests at the same time. 🙂

Sometimes the weather just doesn’t want to oblige us. Still, you have some lovely shots today. Sune with the laser eyes and Albin of the glowing ears, for example. 🙂

They came to mow my lawn yesterday. In the hot humidity. I’m very thankful there are such things as lawn services and that I can manage to pay for one.

And they didn’t wreck Spidey’s web either. I’ve been studying it. She doesn’t tether it to the ground. She’s run two lines at an angle down to some branches of arbor vitae that are underneath one side of the web but high enough off the ground that not much will run into it. The other tether goes up and out across the lawn to a couple of branches on the black walnut. It’s high enough to walk under. Every morning between dawn and about 7:30 she eats her web leaving only the main tethers and the primary frame. The open space within the primary frame is large enough that English sparrows nesting in the arbor vitae can fly right through it. Towards evening she begins rebuilding but doesn’t get serious until after the sparrows have settled for the night. Crafty Spidey.

Today is murky and much cooler than yesterday. It’s not nearly as humid but is still a bit sticky. I have no plans to wash anything today. Or tomorrow. 🙂

    Enjoy the day.

    1. Hi Caryn!

Yes it is 🙂 I really should find someone to play tennis with or at least badminton 🙂

I obviously need to insult the weather more often 🙂 I should have turned towards the forest instead of the village but we’re always in the forest otherwise so it felt nice with a change. I know better now 🙂

I did mow most of the lawn yesterday, it was much easier than I thought even if the grass was really high and soaking wet. If the weather stays fine as they say it will I’ll mow the grass by the dogyard/doghouse/woodshed/ garage. If it stays dry as they also say it mostly will I’m not sure if I’ll have to mow many more times this year 🙂

So the spider is both smart and stubborn 🙂 It does sound as if she has thought it through before she started. Sounds as if she’s only going after night flying insects.

Can’t see what weather we’re having this morning, it’s still pitch black outside 🙂

      Have a great day!

      Christer.

      1. I was reading about orb web weavers. They hang their webs in the open and they assume that things will walk through them anyway. Her web is strategically placed where insects attracted to my back light as well as insects attracted to my neighbor’s front walk light will have a good chance at flying into it.

      2. I have very few orb webs close to my outside lamp but lots of strange small ones on the walls towards north. I wouldn’t mind if the or web makers moved here instead 🙂

  3. Christer,
My lawn got mowed on Friday. I didn’t do it for which I am quite thankful. They also blew the deck clean which was great as we had movie night. The deck was covered in leaves left over from the hurricane which wasn’t, Hermine.

The air is just so uncomfortably thick with humidity today. The breeze we had is hit or miss now. It was much cooler earlier.

I’m thinking I don’t get up early enough for fog. I’d have to drive to the bridge over the river as that is usually where the fog is. I used to see it often on my way to work.

I’m thinking it should be clouds all day or sun all day.

    Have a great evening!!

    1. Hi Kat!

I do hope it is so dry in the ground now that the grass won’t grow any more 🙂 Most leafs are still hanging on the trees but they are changing colors now.

Lower humidity today and what a difference it is! They say we’ll have this nice weather next week too 🙂

Yes it needs to be a bit chilly and early in the mornings to see fog this time of year. I prefer it when the sun rise because it gived the most amazing colors in the fog.

      Have a great day!

      Christer.

  4. Hi Christer! Catching up from a super busy weekend! Started prepping our fences for staining and what a big job. We don’t have alot of fence but it sure does seem like it when you start!!

Lovely photos even though the weather was a challenge. We had a blissful weekend weather wise. Woke up this morning to rain but I don’t think it will last. I hope not – I want to get more fence done!

Lovely backhand you have! 🙂 Those wasps have nothing against that racket 🙂

    Off to read Sunday’s post!

    1. Hi Dianna!

I’ve always wondered if it is more work witrh a fence or a hedge. We have a kind of fence here made from Juniper which isn’t supposed to be painted or anything and it lasts for ever, I would like that one 🙂

We’ve had a rather wonderful day here, started out cool and foggy, the rest was sunny and warm. Too bad I can’t enjoy it when I work.

I do hope all wasps have died soon! Not many around but they seems to find their way in to my cottage even if I only have the door open for a few seconds at a time.

      Have a great day!

      Christer.
