I have the kitchen door open even if it is a bit chilly outside, the cool air helps to keep the headache that I’ve had since I woke up. I think I might have a cold again because my throat is sour and my nose is stuffed. I’m pretty sure it isn’t any pollen allergy because the rains wash away all the pollen in the air.
The Magpies are driving me crazy 🙂 They have all their chicks in my garden right now and as soon as they see anything they think is a threat (and that seems to be anything that moves) they start screaming. It looks like there are several generations helping to protect the younglings and the sound echoes between our cottages. It’ll be so nice when the younglings finally can fly properly 🙂
I’ve started my amerikaclocka again. An amerikaclocka is a clock made in the USA in the late 19th century and I think it was called ”short shelf clock” in the US. This one is said to be improved since it only has to be winded every 36 hours 🙂 I’m not sure I think that’s so much better than the previous 24 though 🙂 I do like the sound from the old clock but I have a tendency to forget to wind it up. I normally remembers it for a week or two but that’s it 🙂 It works perfectly though so I never have to set the time after I’ve started it again.
I’ve been using one of my Minolta cameras for a while now and I took a lot of photographs to and from work, both in sunshine and in fog. Yesterday I thought I should take the last photos on the roll and brought it with me down to the creek. It got stuck when I was passing through a fence and suddenly the backside opened up and destroyed the entire film. I’ll try and photograph many of the same things again if possible and this time I’ll also put some tape on the back so I can’t open it up by accident again 🙂

oh no….that’s a bummer about the film. why do the magpies peck the sheep? i have so many birds and babies here. they drive me crazy. they fly at me when i garden.

I have no idea why but I saw that the sheep didn’t like it at all. I guess they saw the sheep as dangerous to the chicks and wanted to scare them away.
The magpies tend to scare away any other birds so I have unusually few other birds in my garden now.

The magpies sound as ferocious as tree swallows. Tree swallows are small birds but they are very offensive when they have nestlings. I’ve had them fly at my head just because I was walking on the roadway somewhere near a nest box. They go after anything that moves. The grackles are almost the same way. They usually limit their attacks to neighborhood cats but they are relentless in their efforts.
Isn’t that just the way with cameras? I hope you can get those shots again. They won’t be the same, though.
Amerikaclocka. Cool. The 36 hour thing was probably an improvement since, if you were too rushed or forgetful to wind it at the normal time, it would still be running a few hours later when you remembered. Assuming that it only took a few hours to remember. If it took a few days, well, outta luck I guess. 🙂
It’s sunny and pleasant again today. Weather widget says it’s going to rain. Not so far.

They truly are and the sound they make, reminding a bit like a crow, is very loud so having them shouting in the garden is rather annoying 🙂
It’s so typical! No they’ll never be the same so I’m hoping for better 🙂 Fog might be hard but sunshine over a rape-sweed field will look much the same I think.
They were and still are rather popular here those clocks and since they are many they are usually quite cheap. The clock ringing is fortunately broken in my clock 🙂 The bell is rather loud and sounds every fifteen minutes 🙂 I guess it was easier to remember back in the days to wind the clock when that clock perhaps was the only one there was. Now we can get the time easy whenever we want to anyway.
The rain is pouring down and Albin is complaining really loud because he doesn’t like it and won’t go outside until he really must 🙂 Tomorrow will be sunny though and they still change the predictions for our national day, it might at least not rain 🙂

V i har massor av olika fåglar här, men koltrastar är det nog mest av. En häckar t.o.m. bakom vårt “konstverk” vi satt på en hylla vid entrén. 🙂
Konstverket är en gul stor plåtgrej som vi hittade i skogen under en prommis. Den är tillbucklad men öppen på baksidan och där inne häckar det en fågel. 🙂 🙂
Massor av ungar springer omkring på gräsmattan så Santos får inte vara ute utan tillsyn. Vill inte se en död eller uppäten fågelunge….. 😦
Det bästa med koltrastar är att deras sång är den absolut vackraste av allas. “Näktergalningens” ligger helt i lä! 🙂 🙂 🙂
Men vi har också tornseglare, svart & vit flugsnappare, halsbandsflugsnappare, sädesärla, bofink m.m. m.m. och dom är alla mycket välkomna – men dock varken skator eller kråkor! Skönt!! 🙂
Dina bilder var otroligt vackra, men det brukar dom vara oavsett vilken kamera du tagit dom med! :-= 🙂 🙂

När jag hade hyndgård i Göteborg, ungefär som en kolonistuga men med rastgårdar för hundar, häckade det alltid ett koltrastpar i vårat trädgårdsskjul 🙂
Skatungarna är mest i träden och buskarna så det är inga problem med att ha hundarna ute, mer än skränet från skatföräldrarna då 🙂
Näcktergalen låter ju egentligen bara konstigt 🙂 Jag hörde den varje natt och tidig morgon när jag hade handelsträdgården. Vet inte om jag skulle kalla det vackert men speciellt var det, så jag håller med att inget går upp mot koltrasten 🙂
Massor av fåglar här också, men just runt stugan är det mest gråsparvar och blåmesar 🙂

Too bad about the camera back opening and ruining your shots, Christer, but at one time or another we have all had photo mishaps…not that it makes you feel any better 😦 Those magpies sound annoying just reading your post and hope they do not injure the cute lambs (again favorite photo). I have never heard of a clock like the one you described.

That was the biggest disadvantage with the old cameras, any light and the film is destroyed. Well I’ve done it before and it is no use beoing grumpy about it 🙂
Those clocks are very common here and I would have thought they were in the US too since it was there they were made. I do like mine and I’ve actually remembered to wind it up every morning 🙂

Luckily there are no magpies around here. Blue jays are bad enough with their squawking. They are such large birds they can make a lot of news. They cower smaller birds and scare them way from the feeders. They also eat far more than their share.
The picture of the wall with the square paned window which has a wheelbarrow in front of it almost looks painted. It is lovely.
When I nearly fell off the camel, everything I had fell to the sand. My camera opened. I was bummed because of all the camel shots I lost but luckily it was a canister film so the ones rolled in the canister still existed.

The Jays we have here are very shy so I only see them close to our homes in autumn when they fly around collecting acorns, I do here them quite often in the forest though but rarely see them. The odd thingh with Magpies is that as long as the chicks are in the nest small birds actually can have a nest just beneath the Magpies nest 🙂 It si when the chicks come out that they tend to see everything as a threat 🙂
I do like that photo too!
I have a Nikon that winds up all film the first it does and then rewinds it one photo at a time when I use it. So if it had been that camera I still would have almost all photos protected. Well, there is some tape keeping it together from now on 🙂
