Misty rain is never nice.

Fog, misty rain and a weak wind isn’t nice at all. That was what we had when we started walking this morning so instead of walking in the fields we went in to the forest just to at least avoid the wind. As soon as we were out of reach for it things were nicer. So the walk wasn’t especially long but we were still out for quite some time.

I knew that this was the weather we were going to get so today is the day I’ll watch the dvd I bought on Friday. We’ll still get out on walks because the misty rain will stop if it hasn’t already and the wind will stay much the same all day they say. It’ll be warmish too they say. Compared to how it usually is here this time of year we’re having a heat wave 🙂

I’m boiling rice to Albin and rice porridge to me right now. I don’t have the right kind of rice for the porridge but I took another kind of sticky rice and hopes for the best. I have a cookbook that is over a hundred years old and in that it says it doesn’t matter what kind of rice one use but to be honest it does 🙂 I could have made semolina porridge but that just needs to much attention from my side so it doesn’t burn and today that’s just too much work 🙂

I'm just ignoring You a little today :-)

He looks like he has lost all hope 🙂

I better check if I have any nice jam to put in the porridge but cinnamon is good by itself too.

Have a great day!

      Christer.

    1. Hi Rain and welcome to my blog 🙂

I do like fog but misty rain is just nasty, it eats its way through the clothes so fast and then I’ll freeze until I can get home again.

I do like my dogs 🙂

Have a great day and welcome back!

  2. Hi Christer,
Misty rain is lovely to look at but nasty uncomfortable to be out in.
Sure looks like he was so done with being out in it. He’s soggy which he generally prefers but he looks rather grumpy about it.

My mother used to make rice pudding. She used whatever kind of rice they sold here in the our town’s suburban WASP grocery stores way back in the fifties. It was probably Uncle Ben’s Converted Rice also known as confetti. 😛 But once you dump cream and sugar and eggs and cinnamon into it, who can tell? She probably could have gotten decent rice at the little Italian grocery stores but she only went in there for mortadella, Italian bread and tomato sauce. Anything else in there was too foreign. She was very downeast Yankee. It took me 20 years to get her to use oregano.

Today is sunny and very, very windy. It’s a northwest wind and it’s cold. The temperature is back down to 42ºF but the wind is uncomfortable. We’ve been out for a few walks but quick ones. It’s amazing how fast one’s body gets used to 70 degrees and whines about normal February temperatures. 🙂

    Enjoy the day.

    1. Hi Caryn!

I agree, it eats its way through the clothes so fast!

I think Sune was looking at something but he really had that look of total resignation 🙂 🙂

There ius actually a big difference in the texture of the porridge but it worked fine anyway. As You saymilk, sugar and cinnamon makes it hard to tell any difference 🙂 I’ve never tried rice pudding so I must do that soon. I’m not sure if my mother ever has used oregano in anything 🙂 but then again, she is most likely the worst cook in the entire world 🙂

We did get some sun later on so we spent some time in the garden the dogs and I. Lots of the bushes have big buds now so I do hope winter will stay away from now on. I would like to get used to 70’s in February 🙂

      Have a great day!

  3. Christer,
The dogs are soaked from that misty rain. I like rain but misty rain is my least favorite. It doesn’t have the personality of a thunder and lightning storm and all it does is make you wet and uncomfortable.

It is good that you have both fields and woods for the walks. Walking in a cold wind cuts right to your soul, and it is worse when you’re wet.

I am not a fan of rice pudding. Just recently I tried it again, but it was just okay. Give me tapioca or chocolate pudding.

    Have a great evening!

    1. Hi Kat!

Sune never mninds beiung soaked but the two others gladely walked home again :-)I agree about the misty rain, even in summer it’s just nasty.

It is rather good, avoid wind and rain walk in the forest, avoid most flies walk in the fields 🙂

I’ve never tried rice puddinbg but I think I must now 🙂 I don’t think I’ve ever had tapioca either but chocolat pudding, vanilla pudding and fudge pudding are three I really like 🙂

      Have a great day!

      Christer.
