We’re having a nasty eastern wind today and since we have a few def´grees below freezing it’s anything but nice to be outside, still Albin and Sune spend most of their time outside in the cold and dark night. Well night is perhaps a bit wrong to call it but it is dark. Today the sun rose at 7:57 am and set at 4:44 pm. I think it is next Tuesday that will be the last day the sun sets before I stop working for the day.
The day passed surprisingly fast since it is a Tuesday, normally Tuesdays are slow and soul killing. I do hope that’s a sign that the rest of the work week will pass just as fast but with my luck I guess it’ll be the opposite instead 🙂
I never came around to sow any tomato seeds so I’ll do it next weekend, I did find sowing soil though. I also found some Pelargonium seeds and it must be from a wild species. I have no idea how old they are but the interesting thing about Pelargonium seeds are that no matter how ol,d they might be they can usually be helped to germinate. One just put the seeds in a glass and pour boiling water over them and then let them soak there for two days. I wonder how anyone thought that boiling water would be a great thing to pour over seeds to get them to germinate 🙂
It is time to make me something to eat. I think warm sandwiches is on the menu since I already have a fire in the stove. I think meatballs and perhaps spotted sausages will be the base of those sandwiches and after that I’ll see what I can put on them 🙂

Lovely photo of the cottage with sheep in the front. I think it would be nice to have sheep in the front of the house as long as they were someone else’s sheep and I didn’t have to take care of them. 🙂
Maybe people figured out the boiling water thing by seeing what grew in the garbage heap after they threw out old cooked vegetables etc. I’ve read that parsley can be encouraged to germinate better by pouring boiling water on the seeds after they have been planted. Then there are those plant seeds that can’t germinate unless they have been through some animal’s digestive track.
The weather here is just as nasty as yours. East wind, cold temperatures, snow that has now turned to rain. It was pretty earlier on when it was snowing. Now it’s rain and all the snow that fell is turning to a slushy mess that will freeze overnight. Tomorrow is supposed to be 50ºF. Crazy.

I do like that photo but it’s cows 🙂 🙂 It is nice to have both sheep and cows just outside the windows and it is nice that it isn’t my job to take care of them 🙂 I am already longing for thge lambs to come out and perhaps see some calves being born outside my cottage 🙂
It must be something like that. Some seeds won’t germinate until they have been through a fire. I guess it must be s hort lived fire, like when grass burns because I doubt that it would work by tossing them in to the fire in a stove 🙂
Just as bad today but with sunshine instead. My workfriend said it wasn’t especiallu nice even in the sunshine. It’s a high pressure that gives us eastern and nasty cold winds and it will stay until late next week they say. I want warm winds from west, it might mean rain but I’ll take it 🙂

Oh yeah, it is cows. I don’t know how I could have mistaken cows for sheep. Probably because I’d been knitting with very fine yarn for several hours and my eyes weren’t working too well anymore. 🙂 In real life I would know the the difference. They don’t smell the same. 😀
Today was almost 60ºF. I was out walking the dogs and wore my flip flops. There’s still a lot of snow around from yesterday’s storm and lots of puddles from the melting but any opportunity to wear flip flops must be seized. 🙂 Tomorrow we will have 8 to 12 inches of snow. It might be awhile before I can wear the flip flops outside again. It’s 5PM and about 50ºF. I can probably get in one more walk with flip flops.

I’m a bit jealous! 60! We won’t reach anywhere near that here but with ab bit of luck we might reach 47 next week 🙂 Nights will be chilly though. Your weather changes faster than ours 🙂 No I guess flipflops will be difficult to use if snow will arrive 🙂 I would get out for one more walk just to be able to use them 🙂

I’ll see if I can remember to take photos of a sandwich of mine, I’m not used to photograph my food but I’ll try to remember it.
Mosty open faced and if I haven’t baked my rye bread it’s usually a flat wheat bread we almost only can find in this part of Sweden called Hönökaka. I put on what I can find 🙂 Tomatoes is a must of course and I like pickled cucumbers, goes perfectly with liver pate. Cheese is usually on it too. If I have bellepeppers I’ll put a slice or two of that too on it. All those things on normal sandwiches but if I want a warm sandwich I’ll skip the liver pate, not nive warm 🙂 Yesterday I had mackerel in tomato sauce on some of the rather small sandwiches I put in the oven.

Det är riktigt ruggigt i den här vinden, så vi håller oss inne så mycket som möjligt – men man är ju tvungen att gå ut med Santos! 😦 Han tycker inte heller att det är skönt, fast nyss när Role var ute med honom så kom grannen med sina två LÖPANDE tikar. Dom var väldigt glada att träffa varandra – men som tur var så var alla tre kopplade!! 🙂 🙂
Du skrev att du skulle ta en “varm macka”, det lät gott. Vår favorit för närvarande är vitt grovt bröd med olivolja på, in i ugnen i 5 min. Sen har man på antingen färska fikon eller ett tunt lager med fikonmarmelad och så några bitar ädelost/gorgonzola och så in igen i 5 minuter. Mums!

Enjoyed your photos for a rainy day, Christer. Within the next day or so we are expcting to see a lot of snow. This is supposed to be the most snow we have received this season. I know you are glad not to be here 🙂 We also like sandwiches and sometimes have them for dinner with a cup of soup. That said, mackerel in tomato sauce or live pate would not be in our sandwiches. But the homemade rye break must be delicious.

It seems to be snowing here all day long but the flakes are few so very little shows on the ground. Oh how I wish we don’t get any more of it this winter!
Growing up by the ocean mackerel is the thing 🙂 It’s quite nice to add some curry to it too. Liver pate doesn’t work on warm sandwiches but is perfect otherwise 🙂 I agree, a cup of soup and warm sandwiches are a perfect dinner 🙂

I totally agree about Tuesdays. It just hung there with more days in front of it than behind. Wednesday was an okay day, more than halfway through, but who doesn’t love Friday?

We usually get much more sunshine here when winters are really cold and less wind too. Still I prefer it warmer 🙂 and I can always buy one of those ultra violet lamps if I need to 🙂
Tuesdays are just awful and I really like Fridays since I only work half days then 🙂 I get more things done in an hour on Friday than I do the rest of the week 🙂
