Quite nice today as well.

Today has perhaps not been perfect but quite nice and that’s not so bad either. We’ve had lots more sunshine than any prediction has said we would and the temperature has been just above 0C (32F) plus no wind to talk about. I’ve heard water drops fall everywhere, even in the dark shadows in the forest. If I hadn’t known it is autumn I would have guessed it was a rather nice springwinter day.

I’ve had lots of Waxwings in my apple tree today, eating apples. I couldn’t get any good photo of them since I had to point the camera towards the sun. Normally they only eat rowan berries but there are no left so I guess apples works fine too. I picked a few apples yesterday and they are quite good even if they have been freezing for a week or so now. They are even more sweet than normal, I guess that’s the way they manages to cope with these low temperatures since sugar doesn’t freeze as easily as water.

Albin is sitting in front of the kitchen counter complaining loudly, he wants food and he wants it now. Too bad for him that it will take an hour and a half before he gets it 🙂 I guess that’s as a good sing as any that he’s getting better now. He just got tired of sitting there so he went to the door whining. He use the bells all the time so I have no idea why he suddenly whines. I will however not do a thing until he hit those bells 🙂

I’ve done the laundry and I’ve baked a bread. I was a bit worried that I put too much cheese in it so that it would be just too compact but it worked fine. I was very close to it though 🙂 I had some cheese and black cherry jam on the first slices. I have no idea what black cherries are but it tasted just like any cherry jam 🙂 It’s a french jam and they don’t add any sugar when making the jam and it still taste very sweet. As soon as the jar is opened it must be placed in the fridge otherwise it just takes a couple of days until it starts to mold.

I think it is time to make a couple of more sandwiches and I’ll have a pot of tea with them.

  1. Hi Christer,
It looks a lovely day there. More shining swans and glittering fence wire, too. 🙂

I think I’ve never seen waxwings eating anything other than berries. Fruit is fruit, I guess, and they can pick at an apple just as easily as swallowing a berry.

Rocky has a habit of waiting until I have sat down with my hot dinner and then hits the dog bells to go out. I ignore him but find myself scarfing down my food so I give up, put the plate on the stove and then take them both out. More often than not Rocky does a token pee and then wants to go back in. Sometimes, though, he’s out there a long time deciding where to put it and my dinner gets cold. This does not please me.

Today was warm and sunny. It almost got up to 60ºF. The wind was a little nippy. I’m still in shirtsleeves and flip-flops. 🙂

    Enjoy the day.

    1. Hi Caryn!

We did get much more sunshine than predicted and those swans are still flying south. I’m pretty sure we’ll see the same swans flying to the lake again as soon as the winds comes from west as they will do next week.

This time of year most bverries are gone here so apples are a good substitute I guess. The apples haven’t fermented yet so no drunken waxwings falling down thetrees here 🙂 The first waxwing I ever saw was so drunk from eating fermented berries down in my old home town, that it fell down from a tree and died.

I don’t need to follow my dogs outside since I have a fence Albin still haven’t figured out that he can jump over 🙂 So I just open the door and let him outside, usually Sune follows him outside and they always play some before getting indoors again 🙂 They can stay outside for up to half an hour 🙂

I wouldn’t mind 60F here even though it would be a very record breaking temperature 🙂

      Have a great day!

      Christer.

  2. Hi Christer! Yesterday totally got the better of me not to mention waking up with a nasty head cold. Yuck. I sort of figured Saturday night when my throat was getting picky and sore but thought that perhaps I was just tired. Not the case! So here I am at work feeling sorry for myself. If I still feel wretched tomorrow I will stay at home.

Glad to hear Albin is making noise and feeling better! Loved the photo of Sune with the snow on his nose too!

Hope your Monday was lovely – I am just too achy to write much today 😦

    1. Hi Dianna!

So sorry about Your cold! I do hope it got better!
The signs that we’re getting oen are often there but we tend to hope it is something else 🙂

Albin is much better and even more loud than before 🙂 So loud it is starting to annoy me some times 🙂

Monday was slow, even slower than today so I can only hope the days will pass faster and faster for the rest of the week 🙂

      Have a great day!

      Christer.

  3. Hi Christer,
I love the way the sun glints off the snow and the ice. Those are such lovely pictures. I guess everything is relative when you say the day seemed warm as it looked cold to me.

Gracie rings her bells and I go running. When I get to her, she stands beside her crate. The treats are kept on top. She is quite tricky as she knows I’ll come in case she wants to go out.

I’m glad Albin’s hungry for dinner. He must really be feeling better and liking his chicken and rice.

It still looks like a lot of snow even though you thought it was light. Maybe it is only because even a little snow is too much!

    Have a great day!!

    1. Hi Kat!

Snow is best in photos 🙂
I think we only got two inches or so, so compared to where the vet lives it was nothing, they got 24 inches 🙂

They have trained us well with those bells 🙂 but yesterday I just refused to let him out since he had been in and out all evening, just for a few minutes each time 🙂

Yes it’s great that he wants to eat and the eczema is gone now too so I’m pretty sure he can eat both rice and chicken.

      Have a great day!

      Christer.

  4. The dogs running and enjoying the snow was fun to see, Christer. But the best shots were to see their noses covered in white! Glad to read that Albin’s eczema is clearing and he is eating well too it seems.

    1. Hi Beatrice!

The two older ones do like the snow but Albin doesn’t seem to care about it at all. I think he’s happy as long as it doesn’t rain 🙂

I’m so glad he’s better, at least we now know that he can eat something.

      Have a great day!

      Christer.
