The things they find and tries to eat.

Albin is very annoyed at me because I didn’t allow him to chew on a drawing pin 🙂 I have absolutely no idea where he found it though, haven’t used any in many years. Does that say anything about what a good house cleaner I am 🙂 🙂 The morning is a bit chilly and I’ve just closed the kitchen door for a while, rather unusual since it is summer. I’ll open it again if the sun would get a chance to shine through the few gaps there are up in the clouds.

Thunder passed by here yesterday, not especially close to the village but close enough so we could hear the rumble. I watched the real-time lightning map and could see that the lightning hit not far from my work place. I have a 30 minute drive to work but it is actually not especially far away, I have to drive around the big bog I live beside so if I had could drive the way birds fly I would have been there in ten minutes 🙂 I can actually see the mountain, the radio mast and the wind power plants up on the mountain from where I work.

I really should go out and clean the dog yard today, no it isn’t dirty but it’s a jungle out there 🙂 The Himalayan impatiens or Himalayan balsam thinks it’s a good place to grow at, it is much higher than me now (and I’m 6 feet high) and covers the entire dog yard. This happens every summer vacation but this year they’ve grown really big 🙂 Nova and Sune are usually mostly in the garage instead of the dog yard so nothing has worn the balsam’s down this year. I dread the flies though, must be loads living in those plants now. I also need to check the garage so Albin won’t find more inedible things to eat 🙂

I remember when I had my garden center and the dogs found a package of rat poison which I didn’t know I had since I never had bought any. That was a fun day at the vet 🙂 Thankfully I got there in time and they all got a big shot with vitamin K. I must admit that I had no idea that there even was something called vitamin K 🙂 I’m totally sure they won’t find anything like that here though but if Albin thinks it’s a good idea to eat drawing pins he might think it’s the same with screws and nails 🙂

I was just about to take a photo of Albin sleeping in Sune’s embrace but as soon as Sune saw the camera he jumped up and ran in to the living room 🙂 They had been playing outside for quite sometime and I hadn’t heard a single growling from Sune  or yelping from Albin. Next time I’ll wait until they both are asleep 🙂

  1. Hi Christer! We are chilly here today too. I actually have my heat on at work 🙂 Its colder in the operating rooms and since I am only a stone’s throw from them, I am chilled too. So its a heater day and lots of tea.

Isn’t it amazing what puppies find?!? You have to watch them like a hawk – but even then they still find things they shouldn’t! I would have loved to seen that photo of the 2 sleeping….ours rarely cuddle together, and if they do, its bum to bum. Karma looms over Tucker (even though he thinks he’s big) and I am sure he would be suffocated if they did. 🙂

I am so glad today is Friday. Its been a brutal week. I am sure the weekend will fly by and before I know it, my alarm will be going off again. Only 2 more weeks before I go on holidays. I can’t wait!

I hope your day is uneventful and that you get the dog yard tidied. Have a good evening!

    1. Hi Dianna!

It did get warmer here and would be quite nice if it hadn’t started to rain every now and again. The flies behaves insane so I guess we might get thunder too. Tea is always nice 🙂

Yes how do they do it 🙂 🙂 They never stop to surprise me when it comes to finding things 🙂

I’m not sure sleeping close was anything Sune thought of, I think that Albin just thought it was a good place, warm and safe 🙂 I do hope I’ll getthe chance to see it again. Orvar and Bertil often slept that close together though.

My last vacation day so I’m not so happy about it being Friday 🙂 I won’t work the weekend of course but this is the last day of vacation for this time and I haven’t done a thing I should have 🙂 So I really need to do the dog yard and garage tomorrow so Albin gets a chance to see what it’s like before I start working again. I can of course win the lottery this weekend but the chanses are slim 🙂

      Have a great day!

      Christer.

  2. Hi Christer,
No, it doesn’t reflect on your housekeeping habits. Things like drawing pins migrate to small, hidden cracks and spaces. Puppies are close to the floor and on the lookout for small cracks and spaces that might hold interesting things. A drawing pin could be food, might be a toy. You don’t know until you taste it.
For some dogs, it never ends. Rocky is very good at spotting the thing that is different in a space. He will usually sniff it and walk away. Piki Dog does not spot things that are different but is very alert to what things Rocky sniffs. Piki Dog does not sniff it and walk away. Piki Dog eats it.

I’m not surprised you didn’t know about vitamin K. I remember way back when there were a few fringe-group nutritionists who were insisting that there was a vitamin K that could be found in food. The rest of the scientific world said no vitamin K. But it’s important in blood clotting so it’s a good thing that science changes its point of view on things when the evidence shows it to be true.

The weather here is heading towards very hot and humid again. But maybe we will have some thunderstorms and get some more much-needed rain.

    Enjoy the day.
And be on the lookout for that photo opportunity. 🙂

    1. Hi Caryn!

Yes they are really good at finding things 🙂 Sune was just as good at it if I remember correct 🙂 I once had a dog who ate anything up to old age, she once ate a needle with thread 🙂 🙂 Luckily for me she loved asparagus because the fibers in asparagus tends to wrap themselves around things in the stomach. So that was the only thing she ate for three days until it all came out 🙂 🙂

Yes it is a good thing even scientists can change their minds 🙂 I don’t know if there a best before dats on rat poison so that they were in no danger anyway but I remember the panic when I found the box on the floor and powder spread all over the place. Now I tell anyone with dogs about it.

We’ve had very mixed weather here today, a few showers but no thunder. Some sunshine and lots of clouds too. It did get warm though, I really didn’t think that would happen today.

I will keep my eyes open and camera close 🙂

      Have a great day!

  3. Christer,
I am used to your dogs being black so Albin is very different. He is a wonderful brindle, the same color as Gracie though she is a bit darker. Puppies always find stuff to eat as they are always so curious. The world is brand new to them so they are not so sure what you eat and what you don’t.

Today is a great day here, but the humidity will be back starting tomorrow. It may even rain Saturday afternoon. I’ll believe it if I get wet.

I didn’t know anything about vitamin K either. One of my dogs ate a whole bunch of chocolate but she was fine. It was the cat’s fault as they opened the closet door so the dog could get at the chocolate.

    Have a great evening!

    1. Hi Kat!

Yes I’ve had black dogs for almost 20 years now 🙂 I really don’t care about the color on a dog but I did hope that the only male puppy left was the one that wasn’t black 🙂 His mother is all brindle and his father is black and white.

They do have an amazing gift of finding things not good to eat 🙂 Sune however is teaching him on what berries can be eaten though so I hope he can help him with the other things too 🙂

The day turned out quite nice, much warmer than I ever could have hoped for but the occasional shower did pass by.

Orvar once ate 200 grams of chocolate and just wanted more 🙂 He also loved to eat tooth paste with xylitol in it but didn’t get sick when he did that either. Sometimes he had the best breath in the world 🙂

      Have a great day!

      Christer.

  4. Hi Christer, I am a little late in reading blogs this week as the past couple of weeks we have been traveling for fun and also family and house matters. No, the VA house is not sold, but still there is a story to tell which I might do next week.
Congratulations on the newest family member, it was great fun to see Albin in the last several photos and he quite an attractive pup.
Today’s scenics were especially beautiful, especially the spider webs and flowers.

    1. Hi Beatrice!

I’ve been lousy in reading blogs this summer! I’ve had all the time in the world but just haven’t come around to it. I will better myself now when I start to work again.

He sure is cute and that saves him a lot, the little monster 🙂 He’s a stobborn little thing and he won’t stop until the older dogs love him 🙂 He’s almost there with Sune but Nova is grumpy due to her ear so he needs to work a bit more with her 🙂

      Have a great day!

      Christer.
